Temptation

LITERALLY... Temptation is the desire to perform an action that one may enjoy immediately or in the short term but will later regret for various reasons: legal, social, psychological, health related, etc.

RELIGIOUSLY.. Temptation is the Inclination to sin. Temptation also describes the coaxing or inducing a person into committing such an act, by manipulation or otherwise of curiosity, desire or fear of loss.

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away from his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust gives birth, it bringeth forth SIN (Satan's Identification Number), when it is finished, brings death. (James 1:14-15).

The devil is the one who tempts us. Matt 4:1-11, 1 Pet 5:8, Matt 10:10

Temptation is something we all face as Christians, no matter how long we have been following CHRIST. There are few practical things, however, that we can do to grow stronger and smarter in our Struggle Against SIN.

1. Know That Temptation Is Part Of  What Will Make Us Grow As Christian.
James 1: 2-3, 1:14-15, 1 Corin 10:13.

2. Do Not Rationalize, Run Away From Temptation
Gen 39:7-14, 2 Sam 11

3. Resist Temptation With The Word Of  Truth
Psalm 199:11,105

4. Refocus With Praise
Psalm 51, 147

5. Repent Quickly When You Fail

1 John 2:1, Heb 2:18

In conclusion, Be Strong, Not in yourself, but in the Lord. that you may be able to resist evil in its day of power, and that even when you have fought to a standstill, you may still stand your ground. Eph 6: 10-17
